Watching this in 2021 is hilarious. The difference between his current videos and this one from 3 years ago is amazing. His sense of humor is the same but the quality and editing has leap frogged. Well done Tyler.
You're lucky to have a mechanic that does good work on these complex cars for cheap labor costs.
A keeper! Having a V12 Mercedes, whether it'd be an SL, S or G 600/65 AMG is owning a piece of heritage! A highly prized V12 that is (borderline) practical! Good job bringing her to life!
Pulling out the driveway is gonna cost you 11$ in gas.
Enjoy the car. Who cares what it costs to maintain. You can't put a price on happiness.
My brotha had the balls to take on this type of build, mad respect and dedication.
If you listen closely, you can still hear it depreciating in value.
What I love about your videos to this day is how you prove there is still a lot of life left in these cars. Too many people buy these high end cars that can afford the payments, but not the repairs or maintenance. Here you are more or less bringing one back to life and letting some sucker that didn't lease take all the hits. Well done. Rule of thumb. Don't buy anything new if you can't afford to keep it maintained; be it a Kia or a Benz. There are plenty of nice cars out there that will get you around stupid cheap if you can do your own work, or simply recycle running used cars.
This was the video that I came across when I found your channel 4 years ago. I've learned a lot from you and saved a lot of money. Glad to witness the come up. Thank you, you're the man 😎
Damn people, Hoovie has come a long way
14,500$ for a V12 Mercedes with a new engine? Now that's a hell of a deal! Overall, you played the car game well. Anyone who says otherwise is absolutely oblivious.
This guy is literally rejuvenating my love for the auto industry, love your channel sir ❤ ♥ 💖
imagine buying this car new, and having to sell for $4500!
Well done! Great project -the car looks amazing. My parents have a similar the one you passed out next to. But your seems a bit more massive and spacious even if it is older. Many trouble-less miles, mate!
I love how you fixed this car. From almost a wreck to the perfect condition :)
This is the first video I've seen from Hoovie. I can remember thinking "young, rich douchebag showing off" . But then I learn that Merc was broken so it made me little bit happier. Then I watched some more of his videos and I realized that he is mad but cool mad. I liked it. So I sold my reliable BMW E46 3.0 XD and bought Audi Allroad 2.7 biturbo. Now I'm on the verge of being broke but I'm oddly happy. I thought my wife knows her way around my wallet but she got nothing compared to my car! This is a blood bath... Airmatic suspension will send any brave man to his kneels. I couldn't take it no more so I swapped it for coilovers. Much better, I will never see that suspension light again!
I think you got a great deal, even with the additional money spent. I recently bought a 1995 S320 for 1K. Put another 1300 into it and drive it all the time, although I still need to fix the B3 transmission internal piston seal (no reverse). Enjoy your car!
When filling the car, try turning the filler nozzle to a different angle. Mine always clicks off at the 6 o'clock (normal) angle. It works fine at 2 o'clock. The pressure cut off works fine, too.
Honestly, your biggest bargain was the fitting costs of the new engine. Removing 2 engines and re-installing one for $1450, for this sort of car, is a steal! I've seen people pay that just for the re-programming of the computers. dang!
You and Doug are the cooliest car nerds. Keep up the good work.
